NEW MOON IN SAG 2009

Tomorrow, Wednesday December 16, is the new moon in Sagittarius. In short, this is the last new moon of the calendar year. However, for witches and other magickal entities, this is the last new moon of the fallow time of the Magickal Year.

The period between Samhain (the ancestor of Halloween and New Year for witches) and the Winter Solstice, Yule, is considered a "fallow time." In the past, this would have been the period after the animals had been slaughtered for food, and the crops harvested. While not a time of idle or leisure-- everything would need to be stored and "put up" for food, plus preparations for the Solstice festivities and feasts-- it was a "fallow" time in terms of harvesting or breeding.

Personally, I don't generally do any magickal work during this time. The moons that fall between this time (generally Scorpio and Sag new, and Taurus and Gemini full) I celebrate, but with a party only, and attendance isn't mandatory. (I suppose even the elementals and other spirits like a holiday! I imagine them, lying on beach in Jamaica, sipping daquiris!)

Tonight is a great night to dream your dreams for the new calendar year. And a nice little soiree tomorrow night for the new moon wouldn't be a bad idea either. The Lady loves to get dressed up and be entertained, and in the fanfare of the Holiday Season she is often overlooked. So give the gal a toast, if you can, and maybe write down a few resolutions for January 1st, if you do that sort of thing.

On December 20th, in the evening after dark, through the night on December 21st, I will be holding a "public" ritual. If you are in St Louis area, certainly you can participate in person (call my voice mail and leave a message 323 856 6193), or you can participate astrally, or just be with us "in spirit."

2010 promises to be, as the Chinese saying goes, "interesting times." Let's greet "the dawn of the year" with a true Feast and Festival!! I am still working out the details and awaiting further "communication" on the exact details, but I think a vigil through the night the 20th, greeting the dawn (perhaps at the riverfront? or Forest Park?), and of course, lots of wine, song, and revelry for the night of the 21st (after an afternoon nap to recover from the vigil).

PRAISES, THANKS, & BLESSINGS!!!

PS-- How is that crazy Mars perigee working for you? Yeah, tell me about it! This "make everyone angry/insane/pumped up/accident prone" is in direct opposition to my natal Mars...grr... ;o)
