Quickly, before I begin. I would like to point out two new links added to my sidebar.
The first link is to the Organic Consumers Association. At this point in the development of humanity this organisation pretty much ranks as spiritual. If we are going to save our planet it is important that we begin now in small ways. Buying locally grown, organic foods will become, over the next few years, necessary, even mandatory. Recycling is the single most important thing anyone in a Western and/or industrialised country can do right now. Riding public transportation and/or walking or biking one day a week, buying a water filter instead of bottled water, and not eating animal products one day a week rank very closely as number two.
Change the future today. Let the process begin in your own home.
The second link is to the Witches Almanac. If you are already a reader you know that you will need to buy the 2007-08 edition on Tuesday. If you are practitioner of any type of Western magick I feel this Almanac is indespensible. (Although you will still need a daily ephemeris, especially for moon voids.)
****************************
If you have not read the first and second part of this series, please do so now.
"Creating your own reality" is a term that many people would scoff at. Especially tried and true "realists." In fact, it was only when an obscure branch of science (quantum physics) got involved in "meta-physics" that you started seeing movies like WHAT THE BLEEP DO WE KNOW? Suddenly, both the realists and the middle-class, middle of the road Oprah audience became interested in this philosophy that seemed to promise a BMW in the driveway, a "perfect" marriage/family, and work-free income.
Witches, of course, already knew, as the Great Mage and Fiend Aleister Crowley stated so well "Magick is the Art and Science of causing Change to occur in conformity with Will."
However, for those that aren't spiritual, or were raised in a religion that believed magick was "evil", or simply have to have everything explained in empirical terms, Fred Wolf and Larry Dossey (both excellent authors well worth reading), and books now like THE SECRET, would be the first introduction to this way of thinking.
Before I continue exploring this theory, I need to state a few (more) of my beliefs. Firstly, I believe, like the poet, that what we experience here on earth as "human life" is the river as it becomes the waterfall, and each drop becomes separate during the descent. I usually describe it as the lake, and as each drop of water attaches itself to a particle of dirt or smoke to ascend to the clouds, only to fall back to the lake as rain, forever changed by the journey, but also becoming one again with the pure water.
Secondly, I do believe in karma. I believe that each one of us has specific things that we came here to accomplish during this lifetime, and further, that some of those things might be the very problems or circumstances that we wish to escape or be free of. Thirdly, I believe that there is a God/dess, probably more than one, and probably not all are "human-oriented."
I must admit that I have not studied the Eastern religions in depth, but what I do know of Buddhism I admire alot. However, I do not believe that most of us here to completely renounce all ties to this world. As I stated, I believe there are reasons we are here.
I believe (and having spoken to the dead about this, I am further convinced) that many of the simplest things about this life (laughing, the scent of a flower or a fresh peach, a sunset, the touch of another human, or just the breeze on your face-- even the cold wind, hunger, tears of loneliness, the stench of death) are the most precious things about this life.
(It seems that once you are released of this mortal coil all you want to do is come back. If only we understood how precious each moment on this earth is, perhaps we wouldn't create so much suffering while we were here. But that is for another day and another post.)
Now, when we are children in this life, we remember very clearly the magickal world we come from. Not just the "rationally" explained magic of the symbiotic infant in the womb, but the magic that is lake, that is the cloud, that is the timeless, perfect, eternal human spirit and the world beyond this one. And we are here to learn how to use that magick in this dimension. A dimension of time, imperfection, and death.
As children we mistake our inability to, for instance, be perfect in the eyes of our parents, or to have our way, or to solve the problems of our family, as proof that we are not magick. Also, as children we imprint not only our own failings, but the failings of our parents and the adults we learn from. Belief in our own inherent power is drained away, usually at a fairly young age. (I recommend Harville Hendrix's series on relationships not just for romantic relationships, but to explore childhood wounds.)
We learn that we cannot make the world conform to our will just about the time we learn that (most of us) cannot fly, or change our shape. Of course, the beauty of childhood is that the child who believes he has become a dinosaur is a dinosaur, and the little girl who pretends she is Wonder Woman is the superhero.
In order to tap into the energy you need to create your own reality that includes that perfect mate, income, and happiness, you need to re-connect with your childhood magick. For the record, I do think that there are humans who can levitate, shapeshift, etc. But because we are part of "the pool" of humanity I think those who have transcended this world to that extent must mostly remove themselves from the rest of us. (Transcend too far, and there is no more feeling of breeze on one's face, peaches to eat, etc. Much of what anchors us here is what creates the joy of being here. Shapeshifting and flying await in eternity, but alas, no peaches, and no mouth to consume them.)
You see, it is not just the childhood imagination that you need-- the spirit of joyful play and creation and the willingness to live in the moment-- it is also the child's ability to live only in his/her own mind. One you committ to creating your own reality other people's opinions become one of the chief obstacles to release and/or avoid.
One of my favourite books is Shakti Gawain's CREATIVE VISUALISATION. I am going to end this post with some notes I took last time I was re-reading her book. As usual, I have barely begun and this post is already way too long and it is way past my bedtime. So sometime soon I shall have to post part two of this post, which is an on-going series. I wonder: should I visualise less verbosity? No... don't answer that.
DESIRE * BELIEF * ACCEPTANCE
1) Do I truly, in my heart, desire this goal to be realised?
2) Do I believe that this can exist? And do I believe that it is possible for me to realise it or attain it?
3) Am I really willing to have this completely?
Now you can see where number two is probably the big obstacle. You must connect with that child who can fly and shapeshift and has superpowers.
INTENTION
You deeply desire it; you completely believe that you can have it or do it; you are totally willing to have it.
I do believe that if you can answer yes to all three of these it is probably something that is already in you. You karma probably presents no obstacle to it. In fact, it may be that it one of the things you were sent here to achieve.
I suggest choosing just one thing that you desire. See if you can begin joyfully envisioning it and searching for every evidence of it in your day to day life. Write it out as an affirmation each night before going to bed. Write it 100 or 200 times, just like in grade school. Have a picture of it either posted somewhere or an image in your mind.
Create your intention, and let your magick lead you to it.
PRAISES, THANKS, & BLESSINGS!!!
