SCORPIO FULL MOON

I did not know that the Full Moon in May is always the celebration of Buddha's Birthday until I got my Update from Moonsurfing. (If you haven't already, please check out Moonsurfing in my sidebar links. I highly recommend signing up for her newsletters.)

Also a note about Buddha's Birthday here in my Ephemeris. (I use Llewellyn's Daily Aspectarian, but see my post script about them if you are new to witchcraft.)

The Aspectarian suggests "allowing yourself to experience" this full moon's depth. That it is the most spiritually powerful full moon of the year. I agree. "Buddha is said to been born, died, and gained his enlightment during the May Full moon." I know for certain that Bealtaine is a sacred time of year, and tonight is the closing of the Feast of Bealtaine (a week before and a week after). And tonight's energy certainly has the energy to transform and heal, so even if we do not become like the Buddha, tonight's full moon still has a great transformative power.

Find some time this evening to gaze at the moon (she will be low on the horizon) and contemplate her beauty. Tonight is an excellent night to cast a circle even if you are performing no magic. You will most likely have visitors, so be sure to have a few offerings on hand-- perhaps some flowers and wine or juice, crackers or cake, or a poem or song or sketch. (The Shaker hymm TIS A GIFT TO BE SIMPLE is my standard Circle song.)

You could be visited by your Higher Self with an answer to a problem that you have been worried about. You could meet your angels or spirit guides or animal familiars. You could be led to your "place" in the astral realm. The Lady herself could ride down the moonbeams in her chariot drawn by silver dragons. The spirits of your ancestors, of the new spirits about to enter the world, your descendents, spirts of nature or past lives could come to visit you. Try to find some time to prepare before twilight. Take time to relax and put your mind in a restful and meditative state so that you can best receive these visions.

This is an excellent night for the Pink Light spell. Stand in your bare feet upon the bare earth. Breathe in and let the light of the moon shine into your heart (heart chakra), breathe out her light as pink energy through your heart. Broadcast it to the every person on the planet.

(You can also do this with green light and send it to the whole planet and all of her creatures and growing things. If you do not know how to cast a circle you can draw one with salt or flour. Start facing east and turn south, west, north back to east, or clockwise. When you are done sweep it up.)

This heals you and the earth.

But simply gazing at the full moon is enough.

Today is a great day to plant in your gardens, and say a prayer to all that which you will be growing this summer.

The moon goes void at 11:51 PDT, just as it opposes the sun (becomes full). So try to plan your ritual before then for best results.

Praises, Thanks, and Blessings!!!

About Llewellyn: Not all of their books and authors are reliable. They are not very rigorous about sources and some of their authors are just down right silly. Their astrological books and publications are very good though, in my opinion, especially for witches. They are Scott Cunningham's publishers, though, and I recommend any book written by him. They are a great resource, but you just have to be careful.
