THE STRICT FULL MOON

The moon is full tomorrow night (Tuesday) in Virgo. What was happening in your life at the end of August during the Virgo new moon? The growth in your life since September is about to be measured and/or tested.

Virgo is the only barren earth sign. She is the harvest. She is the fulfillment of the seed promises of spring, and the nurturing growth and work of summer. She is the expression of fertility, but she herself is barren.

That Virgo is the virgin, in my opinion, has more to do with Persephone's departure from Demeter. Demeter will not be a mother for the next six months- nor will the earth hold any promise of creation. And Persephone departs as her mother's virgin daughter to go underground and live as her husband's consort.

The Virgo full moon, like all full moon's, is a sun-moon opposition. Here, at the end of winter, when the sun is in the last house of the zodiac- the house of sacrifice and martyrs-- we eat the last remnants of the Harvest. We look for signs of green and the awakening earth. We prepare for Persephone's return.

Myth is the language of astrology. It is how we understand ourselves as part of the dance of the universe.

Virgo is a stickler for the details, and with Saturn the stern task-master and lord of Karma transiting her house, I'd say that things are going to be very challenging. Especially if you are not doing what you need to do.

However, if you've done your homework and are thoroughly prepared for a pop-quiz then you will be okay. Maybe even pleasantly surprised.

And if you have been working to turn things around in your life and have felt frustrated, this should be a time when what you are doing right will finally start to work. Saturn is stern, but he is not unresponsive.

If you are doing a ritual, a traditional one- like Ceremonial magick, or a mass- is probably best. At least get out the good silver and make sure the offerings aren't saltines and two buck chuck. (Guilty!)

On the other hand, prudence and thrift are admired by Saturn, so don't go too far in the other direction.

Anything that feeds the earth or her creatures is good at this time of year, ritual offering or otherwise. Fresh bird seed, suet and peanut butter, corn and peanuts for the squirrels- these are all excellent.

Based on the dreams I've been having, now is a great time to work on your astral projection skills. Just make sure you are tethered to your life and yourself. The documentary "Unknown White Male" comes to mind when thinking about serious astral travel mishaps.

PRAISES, THANKS, & BLESSINGS!!!
