TO DRIVE AWAY VAMPIRES

... You only need to guide them into the light. --Michael Franti

I think most people have encountered psychic vampires. People who just drain the lifeblood out of you. Their bad mood permeates your entire being, and you cannot shake it off even after you have left them. People that talk at you without pausing to draw a breath. People who insist you do everything their way, or on their timetable, or only what they want to do. People who just leave you feeling emotionally, spiritually, and/or mentally exhausted after you see them.

Since we attract what we are, I always have to ask myself what I have done to bring a psychic vampire into my reality. I always check my interactions with other people. Have I been draining someone? Or am I holding on to some energy that vampires like to feed on (anger, resentment, guilt, unhappiness, fear)? Have I been avoiding confrontation or difficult situations with people?

Vampires are tricky things. You know they are soulless and evil, but they can be very seductive. It's easy to get addicted to that feeling when they bite you, taking you to the very edge. And the promise of feeding on their blood, that you might become like them and live eternally in their dead world.

I don't think there are any physical vampires. I don't know that the human mind is capable of living in a static, nocturnal world forever. We aren't meant to stay here. We aren't meant to step that far out of the cycle of life in this dimension. I think any real vampires probably watched the sunrise after 150 years. A endless lifetime, with no chance of transforming with the people around you, going through the different stages of life? I don't believe humans have that capacity at this point in time, or any previous one.

But energy vampires abound. They've surrendered the struggle. Locked in their private world of darkness, feeling lost from their souls, unloved and loveless, not able to nourish themselves in any way that does not suck the life force from another person-- they have given up.

One of my best analogies for how to fight evil (and one of the reasons why I don't fear "bad spirits", especially when performing magick or doing any sort of witchcraft or energy work) is to compare the slaying methods of a vampire hunter versus the sun.

Don't be a vampire hunter. Don't fight them on their level. They are stronger and faster than the average mortal. Even Buffy was always getting her ass knocked down on the ground. She died two or three times in fewer than eight seasons.

Don't go hunt them down in their lair or hang around old tombs, looking for them. Stay out of their world as much as possible. Fighting vampires is serious business. Let Blade do that. Being a powerful person, or witch, or shaman, does not mean you must run out and find "evil" to fight and declare victory over. You may not be driven by vanity, but by something worse: lack of belief in your own strength.

You don't need stakes, or crosses, or holy water. You just need light. Strong, pure light. The sun is not a vampire hunter. Sunlight does not "fight" vampires. It incinerates them. The properties of sunlight are simply death to a vampire.

You already know what that light is, right? Of course. It's Love.

Love yourself. Search your karma. Release those things that vampires feed off of: fear, resentment, anger, guilt. Watch the vampire vanish.

Love yourself unconditionally. Even if you are the vampire at times, Love yourself and those lifeless parts of you will turn to ashes. (Or go read this post on what to do if you are the vampire. ;o)

PRAISES, THANKS, & BLESSINGS!!!
