ARIES FULL MOON

Bear with me here, please. Today's full moon is seriously mystical, and if you can follow this you will see it quite clearly.

The full moon is exact at 20:13 PDT (8:13 PM Pacific).

Tonight's full moon is in Aries, ruled by Mars. The sun is in Libra, of course, which is ruled by Venus. Friday's are also ruled by Venus. This is the final full moon of the waxing half of the year, Bealtaine (bee-ALL-tin-ah), which begins in Venus' other sign, Taurus, and which has been put on the fixed calendar as May 1st, or Mayday.

The waning half of the year, Samhain (SOW-en), begins in Scorpio, and has been put on the fixed calendar as October 31st, or Halloween. (The actual Feast day itself is on the 8th of November this year when the sun reaches 15 degrees Scorpio.) Scorpio, before the "discovery" of Pluto, was ruled by Mars, and Mars is still co-ruler of Scorpio.

Obviously, when Mars and Venus get together the wheel turns. In the Aries-Libra polarity it is Fire/Male (Aries) and Air/Female (Libra). And both are Cardinal signs, the Spring and Autumnal Equinox.

Both Taurus (Earth/Female/ Venus) and Scorpio (Water/Male/Mars) are Fixed signs. They seek to consolidate and maintain. The ancients believed that these two days, the two Fire Festivals of Samhain and Bealtaine, were the most important nights of the year. The spirit world could move about freely among the living, spells and divinations were best performed, and ancestral spirits were to be fed and appeased.

But we aren't to Samhain yet.

Imagine that this is the last dance that the Divine Lovers will do before they trade places. Before the Fertile Lady of the green shoots aboveground must give way to the Barren Lord of the dark roots belowground. Just as thought and creativity bring about changes in the heart and the body, Air and Fire must dance before Earth and Water.

There is still time to finish the harvest. There is still time to celebrate, all those together and intact, before Samhain and the slaughtering time comes. Before that which we cannot sustain through the winter month's must be released. There is still time for one last dance around the Bealtaine maypoles-- the flowers withered and dry, true, but still here, still beautiful-- before the killing frost and the leaves wither on the branches of the trees.

This is the last full moon to celebrate the growth cycle of the year and of your life this year, and despite the awful things that have happened this week, there is a very clear blessing just waiting to be delivered by the two dancing Dieties.

The Divine Goddess Aphrodite/Venus looking resplendent in her perfectly symmetrical Libra ball gown, twirling away on the dance floor with Ares/Mars, looking very macho and fiery as the Aries Ram, have chosen The Goddess' own day to celebrate this last Bealtaine moon. There is no clearer sign than that.

The planets Venus and Mars are also in Libra. Which maybe could be a little bit of a gang up on the moon, in Aries. But trust the old girl to stand her ground. She opposes Venus in Libra at 11:01 PDT. I think that potentially this aspect could be conflicts between women, possibly over men, but I think it is just as likely that if you are open to the energies, you could resolve relationship issues once and for all, both with women and men, especially if you are a woman.

An oppostion between Mars and Venus directly could be a problem, but having the houses that these planets rule hosting the monthly sun-moon opposition (a full moon is a sun-moon opposition) means there is a TREMENDOUS potential for healing in all the romantic and relationship areas. And probably some really hot monkey love in the bedroom. Whether you are attached or not, if you want to "hook up" tonight is a good night. (Although a one night stand tonight could last until the 25th--for better or for worse-- so be careful who you choose.)

Especially given that the moon, the Divine Feminine, is illuminating the sun, the Divine Masculine, in the "male" house of Aries. The lovely Lady Venus doesn't have to get her hands dirty at all. The moon is taking care of the dirty work so that Venus can dance her last dance as Queen of the year.

So give her a party. Make some nice food and put it on nice plates, and be sure you buy fresh flowers! (Although I would wait until Samhain, or the dark moon just before, to eat pomegranite seeds during a ritual or feast. That's really a more appropriate offering for Samhain.) Take a plate out and hold it up in the moonlight as an offering. Toast the Divine Lovers, the moon and the sun, Venus and Mars, fire and air, earth and water, etc, and drink to their health and to the blessings you have recieved.

Even if you are single right now, remember a time when you were in love, and if you can, send some love out to that person. If you can't, then just remember the feeling, and honour it.

Or perhaps just join the Lady in revelling in the fruits of this year's labour, whatever they might be, great or small, and give thanks for all the blessings you have received.

A good clearing out, both in the mental store-house of the soul and in the closets, is a great idea, too. And sending love out into the world, too. Let the Lady fill your heart with Divine light and let it flow through you and out into the world to heal others.

Astrology for witchcraft and mystic purposes is different than for other reasons, but I do want to recommend that if you are so inclined, do read Nolle's forecast for the month. He is so accurate. I ordered a transit chart from him and it was well worth the money. He also inspired one of my full moon visions from last month, none of which I have been able to put together coherently enough to write about as of yet.

Which brings me to Claudia at Moonsurfing. Women in particular I encourage you join her mailing list. The last two newsletter have hit the nail on the head for me, in terms of the energies that are working right now. In particular she points out that this month will be great for planning, but probably difficult in making those plans manifest into reality.

Sometimes this can be frustrating, when we keep trying but we are too distracted or "spacey" or we just can't seem to get it together. Right now there is an unbelievable amount of energy moving around. Not all of it is good. So just stay flexible this month, and keep putting yourself back on track.

I hope you all will find some time tonight to meditate in the light of this beautiful full moon, and to feel the power of the elements. To feel the fire of the soul and the spark of creation itself. To feel the breath of God and the thoughts that are born in the wind, and to hear the sacred whispering of the Ancients. To feel the Wheel as it turns, and the continuity of all Life.

May the light of the full moon illuminate your path, and fill you with Divine knowledge.

Praises, Thanks, and Blessings!
