The Aries New Moon and Solar Eclipse have started us on a new cycle. Let us keep magnifying all of the good in our lives, and begin dreaming a better world. Today, Friday 31 March 2006, the moon is in Taurus, so both the day and the moon are ruled by the Alchemical Goddess of Love, Venus/Aphrodite. Open your heart to yourself and to the world. Dedicate yourself to a better future. Buy yourself some flowers***, a bottle of wine, and perhaps a pink*** candle.
At twilight this evening go outside and look for the slender crescent moon. Say a silent prayer for all that you love in your life. For one moment, focus on the abundance, beauty, love, and Divine protection in your life. For one moment see only the blessings in your life.
Go inside and light the pink candle, pour a glass of wine and lift it in a toast and offering to the Universe and all of your blessings. Dedicate the flowers to the new spirits that are entering the world: new births, yes, but also the spirits of prosperity, joy, awareness, health, and fulfillment coming to you in new ways or in new areas of your life. Say Slainte (cheers!) and drink deeply!
Saturday is All Fools' Day. The Fool wore the crown and the king wore the jester's cap for one day, and both were paraded through the streets to a great feast held in the king's hall. All were equal in a day of frivolity and fun. It is a good day to turn a cartwheel, tell silly jokes, read Mary Poppins, and eat your ice cream before your broccoli-- or instead of it! (I've declared it the Annual Rocky Horror Picture Show review, and I suppose I should try to actually get down the NuArt since it is a Saturday night. But at home on the DVD will be fine too, these days.)
For the last few years I have been on a campaign to transform All Fools' into All Dreams Day. I think there should be a day every year when adults dress up in costumes and play like children. (I would be a princess..or maybe Xena...or a pirate. I just don't think enough people dress up like pirates these days! Thank Flying Spaghetti Monster for his pirate-dressing followers.)
I think there should be one day a year when everyone pretends that their pen-- or keyboard-- is a magic wand. What does your perfect world look like? What do you do? Where do you live? Who surrounds you? How have you solved what you feel are the most serious problems in our world? Write as if each word has the power to transmute into reality.
And what about the King and the Fool? Perhaps on this one day we could each look to see what life is like from the point of view of our opposite. Can the King, from the jester's shoes, rule his subjects with humility and inspire laughter? Can the Fool stop being the joker and invoke wisdom?
Today and tomorrow are good days to look around at the world, ahead to the future, and within, to the heart of your dreams.
PRAISES, THANKS, & BLESSINGS!!!
Llewellyn's is having a sale on a basic witchcraft book I recommend, and also their Moon Sign book for 2006 is on sale.
2006 MOON SIGN BOOK
EARTH POWER by Scott Cunningham This is an unbelievably good price for this book! $2.50! I hope it isn't going out of print!
*** The colour pink is associated with the planet Venus, especially as she rules Libra. Green is associated with Venus as she rules Taurus. Even though the moon is in Taurus, I usually divide the year from Samhain to Beltaine (pink) and Beltaine to Samhain (green). When working with these colours in the chakras green is love of all living things on the planet and the earth herself, and pink with love for humans.
As for buying flowers: If you are one of those people that never has $10-20 extra for "frivolous" things like flowers, then you can pick some from your yard or the park. They can be dandelions and clover, the trick is that you must see beauty in them. If you look them and think "I am so broke I cannot even afford flowers and I had to pick these stupid weeds" well, that defeats the whole purpose. You must be able to look at them and think "Even that which I cannot afford the Great Mother/Universe/ God/Goddess/Flying Spaghetti Monster has provided to me. Look at all of this beauty that is free for me to pick in my own backyard!" Out here we are lucky enough to have Trader Joes and their very affordable fresh flowers. But even one rose from a florist will make a difference.
Remember, now is the time that if you have only one dollar, and you need ten, you must say thanks and bless that one dollar ten times.
