I have not recently told the story of the Lady the Moon, the Mistress of Magick and Enchantment. When you wish to the moon, wish to the Lady Selene. She was the body of the moon in some systems of Greek mythology. Selene loved a beautiful shepherd, Endymion. He was so beautiful that the Gods became jealous. Selene begged his life and beauty be spared, so he sleeps eternally on Mount Latmus.
Since Selene can only gaze upon him, and not love him as she would like, each month she struggles with her desire. As the moon waxes, she turns her face toward the object of her desire. When she is full she is gazing at the sleeping form of her lover. As the moon wanes she is overcome and turns away.
Only a woman that knows love and longing can grant wishes and make magick. Selene was a Titan, and speaks the old language. In many ways she is a "better" witch's Goddess than Hecate. Hecate knows the secrets of the earth and the Gods. She wanders the world at night and can be found loitering at crossroads on dark moon nights- in particular where three roads meet.
Hecate carries with her knowledge and illumination of this earthly dimension and human existence. Selene speaks the older language of the stars and planets, and forces beyond even the Gods themselves.
Lucky for witches, we don't have to choose just one Diety. When summoning spirits and seeking mortal knowledge, appeal to Hecate. When gazing at the full moon with longing in your heart, call to Selene. She will hear you, and she will answer.
PRAISES, THANKS, & BLESSINGS!!!

EDIT: When you make a wish to the moon, gaze at her and think about how beautiful she is. She is a woman, true, but this is how she feels when she looks at Endymion. So she will understand your longing, and grant you the object of your desire.
