PSYCHIC, NOT OMNIPOTENT

One of the erroneous beliefs about psychic abilities (and the law of attraction, incidentally) is that being psychic makes you omnipotent. For one thing, being able to see something, especially something that is going to happen in future, does not necessarily give you power over the outcome. And the future is very tricky. Change one thing, and everything can change. (I believe this is one of the reasons so many high level psychics do only Medium work. The dead don't change that much.)

Also, when it comes to "reading" other people, we are all limited by our beliefs and judgements about ourselves, and in turn, the world. Think for a minute about the people you see everyday. Perhaps in the elevator or lobby at work, on the street, at your favourite restaurants and stores. We all pass people everyday that we don't "see". I don't mean psychically, necessarily, but that we don't ever register or interact with.

There is a saying I heard alot in the film industry "there are only 2000 real people in the world, the rest are just special effects." In some ways, this is true. We are each our own world. We can only "see" ourselves, including that in ourselves we do not want to see, or refuse to see, or that which we reject in ourselves.

One of the reasons I stopped doing readings for awhile was that I found that I had changed, but I was still seeing other people through my old reflection. (I also have a health issue, which was the main reason I stopped. I expect to begin doing readings again in late June.) We attract what we are, and my clients here were different than the kinds of people I attracted in Los Angeles. It took me awhile to understand that. And to understand that I needed take some time to learn who I was becoming.

The development of psychic abilities has a great deal to do with the development of self-awareness. You must know yourself well enough to know when you are feeling or seeing something that belongs to someone else. (My previous post discusses the need for developing self-honesty in order to recognise that, especially in regards to predators. Or people that would do you harm of any kind.)

And judgements of certain outcomes can be limiting too. If you are reading someone you must be able to clear away your own judgements in order to see things from their point of view. This is one of the main reasons it is so hard to read for one's self, and for people that are close to you. It can be very tricky-- are you telling them what you see, or what you want to see for them?

Many people with psychic abilites-- and it seems to be a hallmark of the least developed abilities, I know, because I have done this-- think that because they can see something, they should say it. I have come to disagree with this practice. If you haven't been asked, you might be telling the person something they aren't ready to hear. It's also something of an invasion of privacy. The psychic equivalent of a peeping tom.

I had a intuitive tell me once that "God sent me here today to meet you and tell you these things." Now, some of the things were true, and even one of her predictions was right-- viewed in a certain light. But none of it was necessarily helpful. And I had even asked her point blank not to read me! She just felt very certain about what she was seeing, and it probably felt very powerful to her when she was seeing it. (There is a kind of "high" that comes with psychic visions, and I think alot of people get hooked on the high. This happens in witchcraft, too. You get Circle junkies. They aren't really witches, they just like the high from casting and being in the Circle.)

The thing about believing that you have power because you can see something other people can't is that you can mistake yourself for that power. God sends the Jehovah's Witnesses to my door on Sunday. Fervent beliefs and a zealous attitude are impediments to psychic and spiritual development. (I do ask people very leading questions if I see something that I really feel compelled to comment on. But I've learned it is best to keep quiet if the person does not seem receptive to the information.)

A psychic talent- whether it be empathic abilities, clairaudience, clairvoyance, psychokinesis- is still limited to the confines of human ability. The best human ear still cannot hear the same high pitches that dogs can hear. The best human eye cannot see the difference between UVA and UVB rays--we only see them as sunlight. Our beliefs and judgements limit us. They are meant to. We all came here to do things that only we can do. We can only attract what we put out. It is meant to be that way. In some ways, we are here to interact with ourselves, as we appear to ourselves in the guise of other people.

No human has the ability to know everything at once. Humans can only absorb so much. And to really live a full life one must always strive to stay rooted in the present. There have been things I have seen in my own future that looked awful, I didn't want them. But when those experiences came they were welcome. And I have seen things I thought were going to fulfill all of my dreams, but when they arrived they brought only heartbreak. Psychic visions are only helpful when they can be viewed in context, or when one is able to release all judgements and expectations- other than the expectation of always being in the right place, attracting what you are perfectly, and living a full and joyous life. Only then can one have any understanding of what is being seen.

And if you are too grapsing of that hidden world, you miss out on what is happening to you. I used to go to the same pub on Friday nights, and half the time I would be so caught up in the things I saw happening to and around other people, I missed the things that were -or could have been- happening to me. I didn't hear the joke my friend told. I was too busy psychically watching the bartender freak out when his wife and secret girlfriend sat down next to each other. I was intoxicated with the power of being able to see things that were happening in other people's lives, and ignoring my own.

One final note: Many people ask me if I see things as I see the physical world. I don't. I don't want to. When I was younger I had too many freaky experiences. That is one of the reasons I shut myself off from the spirit world, and God and religion. The difference between what people really think and feel and how they act and what they say- that is enough for me! What I see-- when I see people's energy patterns or spirits-- is mostly in my inner eye, in my mind. In Los Angeles and larger cities, it is so crowded with humans and their energy, I don't need to be bumping into all of the ghosts as well.

I always feel sorry for the movie and television psychic-- she can never tell when she is talking to a ghost. The Ghost Whisperer's last episode had the main character getting videotaped talking to a ghost, and it looked like she was talking to herself. In the show, the dead seem unable to hear at all if you don't speak to them out loud. It does help to speak to them out loud, but at least pretend you are on your cell phone or something. And they can hear you even if you just think the words.

Being psychic does not necessarily give you great power over others or over yourself. It may or may not make you rich or lead you to your own reality television show. It is the same as any other talent or ability. I compare psychics to cooks. There are cooks in grills and fast food restaurants. There are the cooks in fine restaurants. There are 12 star Parisienne chefs. Any of them can make you a meal, but they are not all the same. And I've had bad food in good restaurants and great meals in greasy spoons.

Whatever your talent, and however great or small it may be, do not expect more from it than you are willing to put into it. And do not define yourself or your achievments by it. It is a talent like any other.

PRAISES, THANKS, & BLESSINGS!!!
