Monday is Lammas Eve, the sun reaches 15 degrees Leo sometime Tuesday in the afternoon. This is "First Feast" and Lugh is the most "human-friendly" of the Godheads who rule the Ancient Celtic Quarter Days.
This Feast day is about the fruits of the tilled earth; gardens and fields and even the wild things that can be harvested for food. The sun is strong, and well, excuse the pun, "august". Even in a year of drought and storms, heatwaves and other disasters, we can celebrate the fruits of our labour.
My own story is in full play mode right now, and I think if you look at your life you will find that yours is too. How we celebrate this Feast will shape the next few months, and the next few months will set the course for 2007-2010.
Root yourself in abundance and love. On Monday, in the late afternoon or early evening, cut a sprig of something you've grown, or find a generous wildflower or herb. Make an offering to Lugh of your harvest and a crust of bread. Pour a glass of wine or a beer. Toast the Corn King and the Great Mother.
On Tuesday evening, at twilight, make an offering to the Full Moon in Aquarius. Offer her some sun tea, or even a glass of milk, as it is during the sun's soujourn in Aquarius that we have Imbolc, the Feast of First Milk. Remind the Sun and the Moon that you will need health and vigor for the coming months, and abundance, perhaps not as fertile fields and ewes, but abundance in health and joy and prosperity and love. And healthy food. These next two days are good days to dedicate yourself to new healthy committments: a better diet, more exercise, regular meditation and prayer, and daily thanksgiving and laughter.
PRAISES, THANKS, AND BLESSINGS!!!
